The Simpsons: 10 Greatest Apu Moments
1. Staying With The Simpsons
This entire episode (Homer And Apu) fully shows off how wonderful the Kwik-E-Mart clerk was. He’s the focus of the episode, and barely puts a foot wrong throughout.
First off, we see him selling spoiled and dirty food, tricking Homer multiple times. He asks the smashed hat to keep it to themselves, but the higher ups soon find out. Apu is replaced by James Woods and ends up living with The Simpsons.
There’s been a lot of people staying at 742 Evergreen Terrace over the years, but none have matched the laughs Apu provided. We see how ingrained the shopkeeper life is in him as he stacks the cans, but also how much he truly misses the Kwik-E-Mart, unable to even return for groceries. This all leads to the song ‘Who Needs The Kwik-E-Mart’, one of the best musical numbers ever to grace The Simpsons.
Finally, Homer and Apu journey to the world’s first (not very convenient) convenience store in the Himilayas. Homer’s inane questions waste Apu’s opportunity, which is frustrating for the character but hilariously vintage Simpsons for us.
Thankfully, Apu ends up back where he belongs, even if he has to take yet another bullet to get there.
