The Simpsons: 10 Greatest One-Time Characters
9. Llewellyn Sinclair
The Episode: "A Streetcar Named Marge" (Season 4, Episode 2)
The Voice Actor: Jon Lovitz
Jon Lovitz makes a hilariously unforgettable appearance in the classic episode "A Streetcar Named Marge," which sees Marge Simpson starring as an ill-fated Southern dame in a community production of A Streetcar Named Desire.
As director of the play, the super serious Llewellyn Sinclair, stands as a pitch-perfect send-up of those types of theatre directors. And yet despite his obvious flaws and proneness to temper tantrums, Sinclair is a character we end up rooting for - mainly due to his belief in Marge's ability to play Blanche, and because he's given so many funny lines across the span of this admittedly incredible 22-minute episode.
You can't argue with dialogue as funny as "The review, 'Play Enjoyed By All,' speaks for itself," or "I have directed three plays in my career, and I have had three heart attacks. That's how much I care: I'm planning for a fourth."
Interestingly, it's said that Llewellyn Sinclair is set to return to The Simpsons in an upcoming episode of the show, titled "Fears of a Clown." As of this moment, though, he remains a one-episode wonder, and thus earns his place on this list.
