The Simpsons: 10 Greatest Rock Star Moments

5. The Who (S12 E02 “A Tale Of Two Springfields”)

In a plot where Springfield adopts two different area codes, only the "poor" side of town are forced to change their phone numbers. After Homer misses out on free tickets to see The Who because of the area code change, he leads a revolt, which sees the town literally being split in two, with the construction of a wall separating one side from the other.

As the warring sides battle for resources, the townsfolk flock to Olde Springfield, leaving only the Simpson family in a struggling New Springfield, which has become little more than a ghost town.

To pull one over on Olde Springfield, Homer sneaks into The Who's hotel suite in an attempt to get them to relocate their gig. After the band discuss their options in a "Who huddle", they agree to play New Springfield instead.

Standing atop the dividing wall, Roger Daltrey suggests the town use speed dial, while Pete Townshend sets his amp to "WHUH-OH!", bursting into "Won't Get Fooled Again" with such force, that the wall topples and reunifies the divided city, proving rock n' roll can always save the day.
