The Simpsons: 10 Guest Spots That Almost Went To Someone Else
7. Alec Baldwin and Kim Bassinger in “When You Dish Upon A Star”
Bruce Springsteen was also asked to appear in Season 10's "When You Dish Upon A Star", in which he would have moved to Springfield. Sadly for Homer and viewers, Bruce was happy to stay put in Asbury Park. As The Boss had shot them down again, the writers turned their attention to finding a new guest.
The role was offered to Hollywood mega couple, Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, but they turned it down too. Probably for the best as they would get divorced less than two years after this episode was released. Perhaps the show might have saved their marriage, who's to say?
The writers eventually found their guests by asking somebody who wasn't called Bruce; actors Alec Baldwin and Kim Bassinger agreed to the spot and they were the ones who moved to Springfield and were subsequently hounded by Homer.
It's easier to understand why Springsteen would have turned the show down in its infancy, but by Season 10 The Simpsons was an entertainment juggernaut. He's obviously just not into voice acting. As for Willis and Moore, Demi did make G.I Jane the year prior, so they were clearly used to making bad decisions around this time.
