Homer's wealthy half-brother, played by Danny DeVito, has appeared in just a few episodes of The Simpsons, but they're always memorable. First appearing in Season 2's Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?, Herb Powell/DeVito would become one of the most successful of the show's early guest star spots: not just a cheap celebrity cameo, but an integral part of the Simpson family. Yet he's often long forgotten given how scarce appearances are. Owner of his own motor company, Herb quickly finds disaster, as so many do, by teaming up with Homer, and allowing his newly found brother to design Powell Motor's flagship car - which Homer, of course, calls The Homer and winds up being terrible. Ruined, with fortune and company gone, he eventually regains his wealth by inventing a baby translator, using Maggie as his test subject, in Brother Can You Spare Two Dimes. While he hasn't appeared often (though DeVito did lend his voice to Season 24's Changing Of The Guardian), Herb is the cream of the lesser known Simpson family crop. Are there any other distantly-related Simpsons that were missed? Shout them out do'hn in the comments.
