The only reason I can come up with for this episode being ranked a too low 116th by Rolling Stone, and an incredibly unfair 391st at IMDB, is because people assume it is simply a rip off of the Lego movie which is weird, because we know this isnt the case. The show runners and writers who spent two years bringing this episode to life have had to explain multiple times that the Lego movies similarities were unintentional (the reference to the movie was only inserted in at the very end of production), and have even had people from Lego explain that they were the first to contact the Simpsons about working together. This is an absolute stunner of an episode. Not only does it come up with an original concept that combines two different types of animations to tell a complex emotional story, but it has great one liners and uses the unique visual style of Lego to create awesome sight gags. The use of Lego to imply that Homer and Marge can have some quite wild sex is a particularly clever way of slipping in an adult joke that can fly under the radar for kids, and the moment where Homer challenges Reverend Lovejoys assertions of how the world is formed is a nice nod to the philosophical challenges of understanding our world. It's funny, clever, emotional, and incredibly innovative. How is this not ranked in at least the top forty?
