The Simpsons: 15 Most Underrated Golden Age Episodes

13. The PTA Disbands

Mr Lisa Goes To Washington
Fox

“Come on Edna, we both know these children have no future!”

“Prove me wrong children. Prove me wrong.”

Besides potentially having the greatest Skinner joke in the entire series, the PTA Disbands is an airing that perfectly reflects the nature of its namesake. A few problems are presented, they have to be overcome and everything ends up being resolved by the end of the discussion.

Unlike an actual PTA, however, this hilarious episode is embroiled and spoiled with an endless stream of sweet and salty satire.

Admittedly, the choice of storyline is odd, weak even. It seems the writers were well aware of this too, compensating by packing it with quick-fire jokes that are reeled off quicker than a bingo caller after being spiked.

There's the classic crack with Bart and his vocal adult doppelgänger; Jimbo’s secret engagement in soap operas with mommy, and the chaotic non sequitur in the bank that essentially serves no purpose but to get a quick laugh or two are just some of the righteous offerings from this uproar of an episode.

But in an episode like this, why not accentuate them!? These are only a few of the masterful quips littered across this episode too. As it stands, its only drawback is in the disengaging story that doesn't make it incredibly memorable.
