The Simpsons: 5 Reasons Why Homer Simpson Is Secretly Australian

1. His Idealism Is Quintessentially Australian

homersized Whilst I have mentioned in previous articles that I have never had a positive male role model in my life, I did have an amazing extended family whom not only helped guide me onto my path of wisdom but help differentiate the difference between right and wrong. All of us children (even the black sheep that was me) back in the day were instilled with a strict code of ethics and morals that although my own immediate bloodline could not teach, were bestowed upon me by them as the traditional values of what it is to be a "real Australian." And it is these people that I am referencing when it comes to my conclusions about Homer J Simpson. I can take any number of relatives from both sides of the spectrum when it comes to my family, put them side by side with Homer Simpson and the results would not only blow you away but maybe even allow you to come and appreciate what it is to be classed as the definition of an Aussie. And it did not matter whether you lived out in the sticks or right in the heart of Sydney City itself, we were all taught exactly the same. And unfortunately, those values that have seemed to have been horribly diluted of late, but that is a subject for another time. Homer Simpson will do anything for his family above all else. He is peace loving, tolerant, compassionate, is accepting of new things and yet is willing to embrace the old. He has an affinity for sports, can't live without his beer, must be always near a beach and has a deep and true love for his nation (wherever that may be). I'd like to add that he is often misunderstood and although does on occasion do the wrong things, its always is for the right reasons. Hey, sound familiar? This article is dedicated to my very Australian extended family, my brother Steve whom is battling with cancer (hurry up and get better so I don't have to watch how League sucks nowadays by myself) and to my mum, who although may sometimes be under the impression that I don't appreciate what an amazing woman she is, doesn't realize that everything I have tried to accomplish in my life was all an effort to make her proud.

Passions in life: Movies, Music and Wrestling....My childhood was spent growing up in the "Outback" of Australia (I'm a little bit country) and my adulthood resided within the city limits (I'm a little bit rock and roll), so you could say that I am the best (or worst) of both worlds. A 6 foot 7 ex wannabe pro wrestler (whose career was cut short due to a busted back, NOT caused by wrestling) & muso who has a precocious cat & a habit of doing the wrong thing but for the right reasons. The story of my life???? All demos, no albums ;)
