The Simpsons: All 13 Christmas Episodes Ranked

5. I Won't Be Home For Christmas

The current season's entry into the Christmas special category was actually quite good, with the episode going for heartwarming, which the show often does very well, over topical ideas or just going for laughs. The basic story has Marge furious that Homer is a no-show for Christmas dinner - but he has a very good reason, as a lonely Moe has tricked his pal into spending more time with him on what is, for a guy like Moe, the loneliest day of the year. With this unknown to Marge (at least at the time), she gives Homer the boot, and he winds up wandering Springfield until Marge eventually tracks him down. Airing twenty-five years to the week of the original, it's an episode that reminds you that the show has still got it when it really puts the effort in.
