The Simpsons: Every Crossover Episode Ranked - From Worst To Best
6. King Of The Hill
King of the Hill's "crossover" was more a brief cameo by the propane-selling, no-nonsense Hank Hill and his family (only Mike Judge, creator and voice of Hill, had a line), but it was still nice to see The Simpsons acknowledge the existence of that "other" FOX animated show. You know, the one that wasn't Family Guy, or Futurama, or American Dad.
While it never reached the height and acclaim of The Simpsons, Futurama, South Park, or Family Guy, King of the Hill ran for twelve solid seasons, so this little cameo had the sense of one of those occasions where it's "nice just to be nominated" - only with more feeling. And Hill - who is attending a local football game - and his comment that "we drove 2000 miles for this?" was fitting: it felt like more should have been done. At the very least, the door was opened, and it was a shame the show never did more with with the Arlen, Texas clan.
In any case, the amusing moment came in season nine's Bart Star, where Homer becomes coach of Bart's pee-wee football team. Homer winds up cutting most of the team, then appointing Bart as the "star quarterback" despite Bart being absolutely terrible. It's a good episode, though the King of the Hill crossover is of the "blink and you'll miss it" variety.
