The Simpsons: Every Golden Age Season Ranked

4. Season 7

Best offerings: "Mother Simpson", "Marge Be Not Proud", "22 Short Films About Springfield".

It is seriously astounding - and for the purposes of this article, insanely infuriating - how much quality there is at this point. In a lot of lesser shows, this would've easily come in first place.

As mentioned previously, the overall formula and rhythm of every element that creates a delectable Simpsons recipe has been sumptuously refined and attuned in the most complimentary way possible. Season 7, however, consolidates this in abundance while allowing the writers to have some chaotic fun with it in the process.

Taking well established characters and pushing them out of their comfort zones on multiple occasions, just to keep the content as fresh as always.

In a season that makes Milhouse a superstar, Homer a makeshift Smithers, Lisa a vegetarian and contains two of the most potentially heartbreaking stories in the entire series canon, it's almost a perfect concoction. If not for some lukewarm efforts in-between all the greatness. They even attempted to create a memorable clip show episode, proving that this season really plays with expectations in a vehemently creative way.

It's essentially an amalgamation of all the positive - yet challenging - qualities that have been substantially drained in years since.
