The Simpsons: Every Treehouse Of Horror Ranked Worst To Best

22. XI. G-G-Ghost D-D-Dad; Scary Tales Can Come True; Night Of The Dolphin

The Simpsons The Shinning
Fox

The fairy tale spoofs are some of the ropiest Simpsons moments, but the Scary Tales Can Come True segment here is still better than the G-G-Ghost D-D-Dad opener. That does have a couple of good jokes - like Homer attempting to convince that Agnes Skinner was going to be the next Hitler - but ultimately it's a little lightweight.

For all of the episode's faults, the simple, ludicrous site of Homer transformed into a part chicken, part sweeping brush monster in the Hansel and Gretel spoof is legitimately one of the funniest things every made in the name of the show. it's just a shame the whole thing wasn't as good as the sum of its better ideas.

The Night Of The Dolphin segment on the other hand is a mess: it's not as funny as it thinks it is and the goofy almost light-hearted tone is the opposite of everything I want from a Treehouse. Apart from if it involves Homer-chicken brushing the floor in hysterics.
