Originally airing in 1989, The Simpsons is arguably the most recognisable animated family of all time. The longest running, uninterrupted cartoon series about a dysfunctional family won the hearts of millions in the late '80s before skyrocketing into unmatched success throughout the '90s.
Generally, it's said that the show began to decline after 1999. While this is a shame, and often disputed, there's no denying that the show is still great fun for the whole family. The Simpsons Movie arrived in 2007 to a mostly warm reception, and word of another movie has been going around for years.
Within this chaotic family is Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Maggie, and Grandpa Abe. While Maggie rarely speaks, she certainly has a big presence in the show and the family, often taking on the main story line in entire episodes.
The interactions between Homer and Bart, or Lisa and Abe, or even Marge and Homer are all fantastic and make for excellent television with laughs along the way. The iconic yet relatable family is certainly one of the main reasons The Simpsons is as successful and long-running as it is.
