Ah who doesn’t have a soft spot for Comic Book Guy? Is he perhaps the world’s most famous comic book fan?

His “worst ever” catchphrase is of course legendary and it’s impossible to bring up the character in conversation without mimicking his mannerisms. The Simpsons creator Matt Groening once famously explained that he’s lost count of how many times people claim that they know exactly who the character is based on to which he usually replies; "No, it's every comic-bookstore guy in America."

Voice actor Hank Azaria did actually originally base the voice of Comic Book Guy on a real person he knew, a student who lived across the dorm at his old college.
