Despite being written out of the show all the way back in 1998 because of the tragic death of voice actor Phil Hartman, Troy McClure is still remembered as one of the best supporting players in the whole of The Simpsons.
His catchphrase; “Hi I’m Troy McClure, you may remember me from such movies and television shows as…” is an immortal line that no fan of The Simpsons could ever forget and would often repeat.
Troy McClure and his voice actor Phil Hartman were so well beloved by the writers of The Simpsons that they tried to write as much for the character in as many episodes as they could. One such episode, A Fish Called Selma, has a storyline based specifically on Troy that for many is one of the very best episodes of The Simpsons they ever made.
We didn’t get to know Troy McClure for as long as we wanted but he was easily one of the most iconic characters we ever saw in the show. But from his limited appearances, how much do you remember about him?
