The US Office: 10 Worst Episodes

6. Christening - Season 7 Episode 7

The Office Worst Episode
NBC

Upon hearing the news that Jim and Pam's daughter Cece will be baptised, Michael invites the whole office to attend the occasion. The christening itself is a disaster as Cece messes up her gown and, at the reception, they run out of food when the priest invites the whole congregation to attend.

Meanwhile, after seeing the enthusiasm and kindhearted nature of the church's volunteer group, Michael and Andy decide to pack in their jobs and go to Mexico with the group to help out. After 45 minutes on the bus, they quickly regret their decision and back out.

What sucks: This episode highlighted that the writer's clearly lost their way when it came to writing stories for Jim and Pam outside of the office environment. Although it's a stressful episode for them as a couple, neither of them have any particularly funny moments and their desperation to make everyone happy feels like a dragged out affair.

What doesn't suck: Tony Flenderson's heartbreakingly honest talk to God as he gazes up at the church's crucifix asking "Why you always go to be so mean to me?". Giving us a deeper insight into the tortured and heavily mocked character.

I see my role at WhatCulture the same way my wife sees my role as a lover: I contribute in a very small way, my presence is barely noticeable and I’m not entirely sure if the laughter is at me or with me.
