When we first meet Caroline Forbes she is captain of the cheerleading squad at Mystic Falls High School. She is an honor student, head of the dance committee, head of the recycling programme, and one of the most popular girls in school. However she is extremely insecure.

She would often be excessively competitive, especially with best-friend Elena Gilbert. She was even dating Elena's ex-boyfriend, Matt. Ouch Caroline!

In the finale to the very first season, Caroline unexpectedly transitioned into a vampire after feeding on Damon Salvatore's blood. She was then smothered to death by Katherine Pierce. Pretty dramatic end to a first season!

Caroline's new life as a vampire caused many problems in her life, especially with boyfriend Matt. Ultimately though it matured Caroline and made her see the world in a new light.
