The supernatural drama The Vampire Diaries first aired on the CW network in September of 2009 and culminated on March 10, 2017.

It's hard to believe it has already been four years since the final episode aired, but fans can't seem to get over the hype. All the horror, romance and drama, there's just so much to love about the series.

Over the years, the beloved characters arrived, departed, were killed, resurrected and reincarnated, but all this led us to the final episode and the final sacrifice.

One of the main reasons the show was so popular was because of the Salvatore brothers. When they were turned into vampires, their relationship changed forever.

For most of the series, Stefan was unofficially considered to be the good one, but there were times when he proved otherwise - namely, when he turned off his humanity and became the ripper. The other Salvatore brother, Damon, was the main antagonist in the first season, but at the end of the show he changed to the point where he was ready to die for Stefan.

Their road was quite a bumpy one, even for the most dedicated fans. Let’s see how well you remember it!
