3. Will Beta Be Defeated?
You will have noticed there was no mention of The Whisperers in the death section. They deserve their own section.
It most definitely seems like this is the final battle of the ‘Whisperer War’, but does that mean the end of the whisperers and their leader Beta? With all the clues revealed, we know that Beta was a country singer under the name Half Moon, while in the comics, a similar revelation that he was once a famous basketball player is revealed before his death.
In the comics, the survivors lead the dead into the ocean before hunting down and killing Beta, with Jesus and Aaron dealing the final blow. To wrap up everything now, it’s plausible that Aaron and Alden being separate from the group is to pair them against Beta to kill him, but it’s also entirely possible that he could live into Season 11.
With the Commonwealth storyline taking up the first few episodes with Eugene’s crew, it’s imaginable that we’ll need story for those back home to fill, and while Maggie’s return and rebuilding the hilltop are going to be big priorities, Beta being on the back-foot may be a direction they are looking to take the show in, with his satisfying death happening next season.
