6. Dale
The moral compass of the group didn't really do anything.
He's one of the only characters in the series without a single walker kill under his belt, and if that doesn't render him pointless, then nothing else will.
Though many people do remember DeMunn's character, it's mostly for his admittedly gruesome death (thanks Carl), as his character was defined by clashing repeatedly with Rick and Shane.
He seemed more like a nosy neighbour than a believable survivor, making him tow the line of likeable and irritating. The character's exit was at the request of Jeffrey DeMunn himself, which meant we never got to see him develop more.
It's hard to say if things would have been different had he stayed, but either way, the 2 seasons he was present in didn't benefit from him too much.
