The Walking Dead 5.8 Review - 5 Talking Points From "Coda"

2. The Family Is Back Together

As Michonne and Carl are surveying the scene at the church and trying to decide their next move (while Gabriel whines in the background doing nothing but using up air), the firetruck comes smashing onto the scene, bringing back a returning Abraham, Glenn, Maggie, Tara, Rosita and Eugene. They help save the day and break the news to the others about Eugene's deception, which Michonne counters with the story of Beth being alive and the rescue mission to bring she and Carol home. They regroup and set off for Atlanta to help Rick and the crew get back their friends. It's nice to have everyone back together, especially now that they're all coming to terms with the fact that there is no "after" - what there is now is all there's ever going to be. The show works best when the survivors are together rather than spaced out across the map and in alternating episodes, and seeing them reunite was a great way to end the mid-season.
