Ever since the unfolding of a particularly dastardly cliffhanger in April's Season 4 finale, fans of AMC's The Walking Dead have been chomping at the bit to find out what would happen next. With the bulk of the characters trapped weaponless and confused in a train car by a band of likely cannibals in what was meant to have been a safe haven, it's been a long six months. Finally, to the relief of frustrated fans everywhere, the Season 5 premiere aired on Sunday night. Except for a "previously on" segment and a brief flashback, the show picked up exactly where it had left off in Season 4. Rick, Daryl, Michonne, and Carl have been reunited with the majority of the other prison survivors and now face the daunting task of surviving Terminus without losing any choice cuts of their own meat. Carol and Tyreese with baby Judith in tow approach, initially unaware of the true nature of Terminus, and the episode is dedicated to the daring escape from within and Carol's rescue mission from without. Without the need to establish a new status quo after an in-universe hiatus, as with the two previous season premieres, "No Sanctuary" thrust viewers right back into the survivors' impossible situation, and the action didn't stop for nearly the entire hour. While the episode is one of the best in the show to date and packed with plenty of zombies and familiar blood-spattered faces, it wasn't perfect. So, here are the five best things that came out of the Season 5 premiere...and three of the worst.
Fiction buff and writer. If it's on Netflix, it's probably in my queue. I've bought DVDs for the special features and usually claim that the book is better than the movie or show (and can provide examples). I've never met a TV show that I won't marathon. Follow on Twitter @lah9891 .
