The Walking Dead: 5 Things We Learned From The Mid-Season Premiere

2. Destination: Washington

After facing the realization that Noah's sanctuary was a dead end and they must continue moving, Rick, Glenn and Michonne discuss going ahead with the trek to America's capitol. Regardless of the fact that Eugene is a lying sad sack with a Kentucky waterfall, that doesn't mean that D.C. isn't still their best chance for long-term survival. This sequence is particularly significant because you see a small crack in Michonne's usually thick armor, showing a bit of desperation and hopelessness with their current situation. She's usually so reserved that when she does actually emote anything other than anger it's quite noticeable. The choice to head to Washington seems like a no-brainer, except for the fact that back in season one when the crew sought refuge at the CDC they were told that D.C. had fallen and was no more. That's a very small city with an overwhelming population density, so despite it being the central hub of the American government it should to be virtually impossible to break through to any safe zones that may exist. But that's even they even make it that far. Possible Spoiler Alert: Did anyone else who follows the comics feel like that lingering shot of Glenn picking up the baseball bat was foreshadowing for the tragic event that takes place in issue #100?
