Tyreese was far too pure for the new world. He was a big guy with an even bigger heart, and he knew how to handle himself. But once his girlfriend Karen was killed he began to crack, and never really recovered.

During Season 5, he proved to be broken up by the way of the world, almost completely without hope. Though this sometimes meant he came across as too melodramatic in places, Chad Coleman’s performance was impressive, and Tyreese came to represent how not everyone was cut out for the new world.
