The Walking Dead Mid-Season Finale: 4 Ups & 4 Downs From 'Hearts Still Beating'

1. The Deaths Felt Empty

So, here we are, the mid-season finale. Sh*t is gonna go down. People will surely die. The question, who will it be?

The answer: Spencer and Olivia.

Oh.

The two big, supposedly shocking (I guess) deaths are a guy who is almost unanimously thought of as a massive dick (both in-show and by viewers) and a woman whose name many would probably struggle to remember before she became the butt of Negan's fat jokes (and he gets another one in here, just for good measure).

It's a good job they added in that scene between Michonne and Rick, because otherwise these deaths would've had to stand as the main catalyst for Rick snapping out of his funk, and that's not something I can buy at all. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad we won't have to put up with Spencer anymore - and his death did nicely mirror the comics - but mostly these two murders just elicited a shrug.
