The Walking Dead Season 2 Finale Introduces Danai Gurira as Michonne

As some major characters have found their grizzly end in the second season of The Walking Dead, room has opened for some new faces when Season 3 shoots this summer. Please note if you have not seen AMC's season finale last night then this is SPOILER INFO and you probably should stop reading now. Don't say we didn't warn you! During the last ten minutes of the season finale, a fan favourite character from the comics made her first appearance and was sure to send knowledgeable fans of the comic into a fury of excitement. In the final scene of the show, Laurie Holden's Andrea looked to be on her way out of the series as she was about to become zombie food, but she is saved at the last moment by some slicing and dicing by a shadowy female figure in a cloak, covering her face with two zombies chained to her. The image was pretty cool and was a direct homage to a moment in the comics; Fans of the comic will know that the character is Michonne, the bad-ass samurai sword wielding herione who is as tough as anyone in the zombie apocalypse war. Coming Soon reveals that the role of Michonne was cast recently and revealed during AMC's Talking Dead show after the season finale last night when Robert Kirkman announced that Treme actress Danai Gurira would be portraying her in the next season. To tie in her introduction to the show, there is a six-page Michonne origin tale told in the April issue of Playboy Magazine on newsstand now! Gurira's Michonne joins Brit actor David Morrisey as The Governor in the third season of The Walking Dead films in the spring. AMC have now released a full press release revealing her casting; AMC has cast actress Danai Gurira (Treme/The Visitor) in the coveted role of Michonne in its original series, The Walking Dead. Tonights season two finale first featured the iconic character who will reappear in season three of the AMC series. Michonne, a fan favorite from Robert Kirkmans comic book series, is a mysterious woman armed with a sword.
