5. Tyreese's Death

Beth's death during the mid-season finale made the mid-season premiere even more shocking as another major character met his end. Tyreese was a gentle giant, capable of aggressively defending himself, but only as a last resort. The group stop at Noah's burned-out old neighbourhood, where he goes to check on his old home. Noah finds his mother's corpse in the front room, while Tyreese is bitten by Noah's twin brother in the bedroom. His hallucinations form most of the episode, with The Governor making a re-appearance. Michonne chops off Tyreese's bitten arm, but he ends up dying from severe blood loss, with Michonne stabbing his head to prevent him turning into a walker.
