9. Is Raw Tortoise Good For You?

It may seem like a minor point, but quite simply, surely eating raw tortoise is a one way ticket to the grave? Or at least, a very rough time. The theme of Enid's story is pure survival, and she obviously had to go to extreme lengths, but not even desperation could prepare your body for eating a tortoise alive, surely? How could one teenager survive for so long alone, especially if a roaming tortoise is her idea of a good meal? It's another pointer to the Wolves. Could they have taken her under their wings?
