The Walking Dead Season 6: 10 Things Episode 11 Got Right

Who says The Walking Dead has to butcher a cartload of people in order to create drama? Sure, we all love the mayhem, with the mid-season premiere proving to be one of the show's finest episodes in recent times, but all-out action isn't missed when the story is being driven forward in a definitive direction. Episode 11 wasn't all-guns-blazing, nor was it jam-packed with the undead, in fact they barely featured at all. However, it was a crucial episode for a variety of reasons, adding some fantastic political themes to the show, an aspect that has usually been washed over by gallons of fake blood. New characters emerged, an entirely fresh location has been unearthed, and the framework for Episodes 12-16 has been pencilled into fans' minds. I wasn't entirely sold on the 'too soon' Episode 10, but 'Knots Untie' has dragged me right back into The Walking Dead as its rebirth process continues. Here's 10 things the latest installment got absolutely right...

10. Slower Pace, Executed Well

I've touched on it, but the slower-pace of the episode certainly didn't detract from the intrigue. Far too many times throughout The Walking Dead we've witnessed a white hot episode followed by 40-45 minutes of lukewarm filler. I've argued on countless occasions that the inconsistency of the series would be its downfall, but an episode like this one proves that a slower pace can work if the story is moving forward. We learned so much in this episode, including details about other communities, the trade network, Negan's dealings, Maggie's pregnancy, Abraham's conflict. Everything took a lovely step in the right direction. It was a clear episode that didn't have to rely on brutality to move our group onto the next stage of their journey. Full-throttle episodes are generally more entertaining, but 'Knots Untie' certainly proved slower ones can work perfectly well.
