The Walking Dead Season 7: 3 Ups & 6 Downs From 'Swear'

1. It Was Just Boring (Again)

And that leads to the biggest issue of the episode, and a major problem with the current run of episodes: it's really quite dull. Since it got the big deaths out of the way, there's a sense that the show is going through the motions, which is increasingly the case over the last three episodes. There's nothing really happening, and there's no longer the excuse of it being early in the season - we're now almost at the halfway point.

Indeed, it's probably saving something big for the mid-season finale. And that's not necessarily a good thing, hanging on one event to reignite interest after weeks of being just plodding along. But it's probably the best thing to hope for right now, because the show needs something to happen. There doesn't need to be a big death and lots of explosions every episode; I'm all for somewhat quieter weeks of the show, much like The Well. But there's quiet and then there's silence - right now The Walking Dead is exhibiting the latter, and it's deafening.
