After Glenn and Abraham, Sasha was the major casualty of Season 7; a death that was heavily signposted, yet played out in surprising and very effective fashion as she committed suicide, turning into a walker and attack Negan.

Prior to her death, the show did a good job of building Sasha up into a more important character, and thus someone whose eventual demise would have more impact.

it completed a turnabout in fortunes for the character, who struggled after the deaths of Bob and Tyreese, as she instead became a real fighter and a strong character in her own right. She was revenge driven, but without the singular focus and sullen nature that came with Rosita, managing to remain personable and caring about others, culminating in her final sacrifice.
