The Walking Dead Season 8: 5 Ups And 4 Downs From 'The Damned'

1. And The Episode Overall Is A Bit Listless

Ultimately the episode isn't particularly bad, and there are some strong elements, but it also feels like one that slows things down way too much after the fast start last week and puts the breaks on the storyline.

It's only the second episode, and given how last week started the show should've been looking to keep that pace up for a little while longer, but this episode doesn't really do that. Large portions of it are too dull and listless, with it not kicking into life nor offering real tension until the final 10 minutes or so. It's all middling stuff, another example of the show struggling outside of its premieres and finales, and much of this instalment feels like the episodic equivalent of a shrug.
