The Walking Dead Season 8 Finale: Every Dumb Moment, Ranked Bad To Worst

1. Maggie, Jesus And Daryl Plotting To Kill Negan

Season 8's finale was rammed with moments that didn't make sense, but nothing seemed more out of place than a final tease with Maggie, Jesus and Daryl discussing how Michonne and Rick were "wrong" to save Negan, and how they're going to bide their time and kill him themselves.

Not only is the scene shot in a way that makes each character seem like a total villain, with Maggie going into The Godfather mode and Daryl emerging from the shadows for no reason other than because it looks menacing, but it's entirely out of character for these people to plot an assassination attempt like this.

Maggie heading it up is admittedly justified, and her anguish following Rick's decision to spare Negan made for one of the only legitimately great parts of the episode, but Jesus agreeing to the plot, giving a sinister smile and everything, is totally bonkers.

He's the one character who's been steadfastly against needless killing since he was introduced, convincing Maggie to take in surrendering Saviours and literally lecturing Morgan on how killing isn't the way in this very episode. There's no chance in hell he'd ever be in on the plan, and there's no reason why Maggie would ever feel like she could convince him it's a good idea.

Daryl being involved makes a touch more sense, as he's been on the murder train all season, but his involvement invalidates his arc that was wrapped up minutes earlier. After spending two years wanting nothing more than to kill Dwight, here he finds mercy and sets him free. To go from that, back to thinking murder is the only way to solve problems, renders his entire character arc meaningless.
