The Walking Dead Season 8 Implications: What 'Mercy' Really Means
10. Michonne Struggles With Being On The Sidelines
Having been injured in a fight against the Saviours at the end of Season, Michonne is still injured and thus has to sit on the sidelines when this attack rolls around.
While she's supportive of Rick, it's clear even from the brief moments she appears on screen that this sort of position doesn't sit well with her. We were introduced to Michonne as a katana-wielding badass, and she's consistently proved herself as one of the best fighters on the show. She wants to be out there in the thick of the action, not staying back at Alexandria.
We've already seen signs that Michonne is taking on the role of Andrea from the comics, thanks to her relationship with Rick, and her being sidelined and left at the Safe-Zone takes that to the next level - her "it's your show" line to Carl is ripped straight from the page.
While she'll be there to help defend Alexandria when the inevitable strike from Negan comes, it doesn't seem like she'll be outside those walls for some time yet, and we're going to watch how Michonne comes to grips with being in that unfamiliar and unwanted position.
