The Walking Dead Season 9: 4 Ups & 2 Downs From ‘Warning Signs’
Ups...
4. Rick Grimes The Family Man
More often than not, the characters of The Walking Dead are spending their time working on a massive plan of attack (usually in relation to some big bad villain that they're trying to dispose of), or they're busy taking out the walkers. As a result, viewers rarely see them simply having fun.
Rick Grimes' moment with his daughter Judith and partner Michonne in Warning Signs is exactly the type of positivity this show needs. For too long, the AMC series has focused on all of the drawbacks of war, but just once it's nice to be reminded of what these characters are truly fighting for. They're fighting for their family. For their future.
Of course, there's a level of melancholia also attached to these scenes, because we know that Rick Grimes isn't going to get his happy-ever-after with his family. He's living on borrowed time, which make scenes like the aforementioned few all the more important, as it might be the last chance he has to spend time with his loved ones.
