7. The Title

According to the leak, the show will be titled Fear The Walking Dead. A nice little tie in, even if it turns out just to be the title of the pilot episode rather than the entire show: clearly AMC will be keen to highlight the links between the two properties without over-stating them and coming off as a cynical cash grab. Right now, neither Cobalt nor Fear The Walking Dead might end up being the final title: the latter feels a little too on-the-nose for Kirkman, particularly as he's been so keen to wipe out any hints that the shows will feature any sort of cross-overs. In that respect Cobalt fits better: it's vague enough not to really mean anything at all to Walking Dead fans (it's probably got something to do with the scientific agencies working to suppress the walker epidemic before it begins). And of course there's the fact that the Walking Dead in question are in fact the survivors: it is their ominous knowledge of what is inevitably round the corner that makes them the dead meat the title refers to. Here, the survivors don't yet know that's what they are.
