The Witcher Review: 5 Ups & 5 Downs

3. The Totally Mediocre Dialogue

By far the worst aspect of the show overall is the writing, and specifically, the dialogue.

So much of the season's chatter is padded out by excessive exposition, forcing the cast to robotically spout clunky and on-the-nose verbiage that, due to its convoluted nature, often doesn't clarify things for those unfamiliar with The Witcher already.

On the other hand, a lot of the dialogue is simply trite and cliched. There are countless times where you'll know exactly which eye-rollingly generic one-liner a character is about to drop, and it frequently undermines the show's attempts to have a distinct personality of its own.

The cast sure as hell tries to make it work, but the charmless, personality-free dialogue is a big reason why The Witcher flirts with dullness an alarming amount.
