The Witcher Season 2: 10 Things We'd Love To See

8. Regis

The Witcher
CD Projekt Red

Without giving too much away, Regis is a character that we could reasonably expect to pop up sometime in the next season. A compelling figure in both the books and the games, his role in the main story of Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri is as vital as it is unexpected.

A recovering addict of… let's call it a particular kind of drug, has the opportunity to be quite genuinely compelling. A story about someone dealing with addiction, an addiction that both inherently ties them to their community and makes them dangerous to anyone around, is one with a lot of depth to it.

If executed like many of the other stories of addiction in our popular media, it could be an opportunity to show a depth of empathy and understanding with people who have also struggled with such demons.

Beyond this, his excellent presence in the games carries a tone of affable grimness that gives shade to even Toussaint's bright fairy-tale skies.

The interpretation of Regis' particular group of folk and where they came from would be another point that really helps The Witcher stand out from other series.

My passion for all things Sci Fi goes back to my earliest days, when old VHS copies of Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet gripped my tiny mind with their big, noisy vehicles and terrifying puppets. I'd like to say my taste got more refined over the years, but between the Warhammer, Space Dandy and niche Star Wars EU books, perhaps it just got broader. I've enjoyed games of all calibre since I figured out that dice weren't just for eating, and have written prose ever since I was left unsupervised with some crayons next to a white wall. I got away with it by calling it "schoolwork" for as long as I could, and university helped me keep the charade going a while longer. Since my work began to get published, it's made all those long hours repainting the walls seem worth it.
