Fox Mulder has his own visions of young William, and as with Scully's dreams of her lost son, Mulder's dreams are a mixed bag. There's watching movies together (2001: A Space Odyssey), building model rockets in the back yard, and seeing his son abducted in the same fashion his lost sister Samantha was (until she was returned to Earth and raised by the smoking man, only to escape his clutches, run away, and be killed by a serial child murderer - Chris Carter, we haven't forgiven you for that one yet!). So much for daydreams of your lost child having a great life. It's the abduction angle that could get really, really interesting however. Scully's vision of alien-boy seems corny, and at best a mother's fears over her son entering early adulthood, but Mulder's abduction vision feels almost prophetic, and would bring the show full circle. What if that driving force, the abduction of a loved one, which was taken away from him in the seventh season, was restored, in the form of an abducted son? That would actually be a pretty slick move by the show, and while some might find it predictable, it would fit nicely with the mythology. Will it actually happen? With just four episodes left, it seems unlikely, but if the ratings stay strong, you'll probably see Mulder and Scully back at some point - so this could actually go down.
