16. Face To Face With An Old Foe
A WTF moment simply because we've been here before: Mulder, face to face with his old foe, the Smoking Man. And, as happened twice before (back in the second and sixth seasons), though Fox Mulder held a gun on him, he was unable to pull the trigger and slay the demon that has troubled his life, and so many others, for so long. Really Mulder? At this point, it would almost be a mercy killing, and it might have actually saved lives. He wasn't going to give you any magical cure anyway. The devil always lies, and the sooner you remember that the better.
