The X-Files: 5 Reasons Why It Should Return (And 4 Ways To Bring It Back)

1. Reboot The Series

x-files_s5_4 This is the most likely option and actually something I really very much expect to see happening in the future. Dallas has been rebooted and incorporated former cast members with new blood. Could the same happen with The X-Files? I want to believe. By starting fresh, the show could eliminate some of the plot threads that were unresolved (such as 2012 alien colonization) and place two NEW FBI agents in the investigatory positions once occupied by Mulder and Scully. But this doesn€™t mean there is no place for Duchovny and Anderson. They could very well return to the show and perhaps serve as advisers or mentors like Deep Throat and X from the first several seasons. I would love to see Mulder and Scully return as the leads, but I€™m not sure if the actors would want a full time return to TV. Therefore, by having them as recurring supporting characters, we could try and get the best of both worlds. I know what you€™re thinking, though €“ they already tried to do this with Doggett and Reyes and it didn€™t do well. Well, enough time has passed that the general audience will not be offended by two new leads. As for diehard X-Philes, I am confident that they would follow a rebooted series if they were able to find writers and actors capable of creating a similar chemistry that Mulder and Scully had. Plus, we may be pleasantly surprised that both Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny would like to return to the world of Scully and Mulder on a full time TV show basis. The X-Files is a concept that will remain eternal, because as long as there are mysteries €“ there will be people questioning the world around them and saying €œTrust No One.€ We are always going to be looking up to the sky and wondering if €œthe truth is out there.€ I for one continue to hope that those who pursue truth in the face of opposition will get their due. That is what The X-Files represents and it is why I hope it can make its return. At least this is what €œI Want to Believe.€
