4. Original Cast And Crew
Well, maybe there are two facts about The X-Files that everybody can agree on: Seasons 8 and 9 just weren't the same. With David Duchovny largely absent following the end of the seventh season and Gillian Anderson on autopilot through the standalones without him, the show's earnest attempts to recreate the legendary dynamic between Mulder and Scully that had come to define the show even more than aliens or conspiracies were far too late for a smooth transition. Agents Doggett and Reyes may have become the main players of the show, but they never really were the show in the same way as their predecessors. So, that both Duchovny and Anderson have eagerly signed on for the six installments of the miniseries was phenomenal news. The show just wouldn't be the same without Mulder bellowing "Scully!" the second that he loses track of her or Scully saying "Mulder, it's me" into her cell phone for the zillionth time. Throw in Mitch Pileggi as the long-suffering Walter Skinner, and there are going to be a lot of very satisfied Philes ready and waiting to rewind. The principle performers are not the only veterans to be returning for the miniseries. Creator Chris Carter intends to helm the entire project and bring in former show writers to help construct the scripts. While Carter seemed to lose his way by the end of the final season, his immersion in the universe of The X-Files should be invaluable toward bringing the tone and feel back to the small screen.

Fiction buff and writer. If it's on Netflix, it's probably in my queue. I've bought DVDs for the special features and usually claim that the book is better than the movie or show (and can provide examples). I've never met a TV show that I won't marathon. Follow on Twitter @lah9891 .
