The man known as Joe Exotic always seemed to be an egotistical fella who put himself before the welfare of the company he kept, be it human or otherwise. There was however some small snippets within the show that displayed that the man may have had some semblance of a conscience. While clearly feeling ripped off and hard done by for receiving a prison sentence while the likes of Alen Glover and Jeff Lowe walked free, there were a few moments that made us ponder if he was somewhat remorseful for his actions, especially towards the animals he professed to love.

During a phone interview in prison, Joe noted that he "felt like an animal trapped in a cage." It's hard to know if this comment was Joe's way of reflecting on the poor way he treated his animals, or if he was too busy lamenting his own misfortune to recognise the irony of the situation.

Other evidence surfaced within the series, most notably the final episode, that Joe had come to some realisation of the mistakes he'd made along the way. A brief clip where Joe reflected on the harm he inflicted through the caging of a pair of apes demonstrated some previously unsighted introspection.

A crucial aspect of a second series would be if any lessons have been learnt by Joe. Although from what we saw this series, there is a good chance the man will have learnt very little, if anything at all.

While he likes to know himself as the 'thunder from down under', Luke is actually just a big dork who loves all things sport, film, James Bond, Doctor Who and Karaoke. With all the suave and sophistication of any Aussie half way through a slab, Luke will critique every minute detail of films and shows from all eras- unless it's 1990's Simpsons episodes, because they're just perfect
