14. Over (Season 2, Episode 10)
The best thing about this episode is that the tables seem to turn for our two main characters- Jesse seems to come closer to the side of the Angels as it were, whereas Walt gets further away from that point than ever before. Walt finds out that his Cancer has, at least for now, gone into remission. Realising that his way out- death- is slipping away, he reacts badly, resulting in a party thrown to celebrate the good news going wrong as he gives Junior so much Tequila he throws up, and he lashes out at Hank for no good reason. Walts smugness as he sits down to another glass of Tequila as he son is retching his guts out is more than a little unnerving and another key moment in Walts descent into darkness, despite the fact he spends the rest of the episode trying to make amends for his behaviour. Jesses relationship with Jane seems to offer him some kind of salvation, but when she doesnt introduce Jesse as her boyfriend to her dad his reaction shows how serious he is thinking about them as a couple. Add in the fact that the Meth cooking seems to be coming to an end, and it seems like Jesse may just come out of all this unscathed. This makes the episode very satisfying; knowing how tragically Jesses happiness will come to abrupt end, and that Walt is slipping further away from the good man he once was.
