10. Better Call Saul (Season 2, Episode 8)
To start off the Top Ten is the introduction to perhaps my favourite character in the entire show- Saul Goodman, the greasy and quick-witted lawyer who has become so popular that a prequel spin-off centre around him is now in the works. Any chance Saul has to shine, in fact pretty much any moment he is on screen, is a delight. So to have an entire episode centre on him, as he tries to get Badger out from the DEAs grasp, is even better! The show is as strong when its dark humour takes centre-stage as when it is a breakneck, plot-driven thriller; and this is certainly one of the funniest episodes. Badger gets a chance to shine from initially being rather grating to becoming a classic
idiot savant. As well as exploring a new dimension to Badger, Saul makes a strong entrance and its easy to see from the start that he is more than just a one-dimensional sleazeball.
Its also nice to have Hank come to the fore. Another strong supporting character, Hanks mini-arc is one of the best things in the show, as he lurks on the sidelines as a fascinating character in his own right but you really egg him on, as much as he stands against Walter and Jesses operations. Here we see him reeling from the events of El Paso, and he becomes all the more vulnerable and relatable as his PTSD is only the beginning, as things get gradually worse for Agent Schrader.
