8. South Park Woodland Critter Christmas (Comedy Central, 2004)
In a masterful parody of old Christmas cartoons, Stan is repeatedly coerced into helping a group of woodland animals prepare for the birth of their lord and saviour.
South Parks done quite a few Christmas episodes but, for me, this is the only one that really stands out. Its hard to say much about the episode without ruining the twist that starts the final scene (which comes brilliantly out of the blue) but its a welcome return to straight-up surrealism after the shows shift to focussing on social satire, and is just a pretty decent story in itself with some excellent twists and some beautifully dark content as well as being an ingenious spoof of traditional Christmas cartoons with rhyming narration.
