The episode ends as Ben Caspar's corpse is discovered by Paul, sitting peacefully on a bench at the side of the highway. He, Ray and Ani quickly convene at the scene, and are shown the extent of his wounds. His eyes have been burned out with acid, and he's suffered a severe pelvic wound (perhaps something to do with his offbeat sexual preferences?). This is the true starting point of Season 2's major mystery, one currently without a great deal of leads. A few earlier scenes depicted Caspar's body being loaded into a car and driven around by an unseen figure, unique only from the distinctive stuffed crow in their passenger seat. Questions Raised: Why does Caspar have these specific wounds? Who murdered him, and (perhaps more importantly) why? What questions are you asking after the True Detective Season 2 premiere?
