True Detective Season 2 Trailer: 10 Things You Need To Know

2. Unorthodox Police Work

Whilst Pizzolatto has promised the second season of True Detective wouldn't be as dark as the first, there is one theme that's been carried over: police brutality. There were any number of instances of, ahem, unorthodox police work in the first season, probably culminating with Rust's plan to get information out of a local biker gang by going undercover as a drug runner, getting high on his own supply, then completing that ace eight-minute tracking sequence. Apparently McAdams will mostly be playing by the book, even if she does sometimes pitch herself at odds with her superiors €“ she's still suited and booted in uniform throughout this teaser. Meanwhile Kitsch looks more like a thug whenever he's left to his own devices, getting into all sorts of hot water with fist fights and steely glares amidst seedy neon lighting. Then there's Colin Farrell, who's almost certainly been lost down the rabbit hole. Not only is there his being a coke head with a chip on his shoulder and some sexual deviancy in his past, but he's seen consorting with Vaughn, donning some knuckle dusters, and he's almost certainly that guy with the balaclava on above. Nobody wears a ski mask when they're about to do something legal. Unless it's skiing.
