TV Review: Parks & Recreation 4.20, ‘The Debate’

Amy Poehler does it all this week on Parks & Rec in both starring, writing and directing this episode, and its one of the strongest of the season. The Knope We Can took a hit last week after Leslie inadvertently made doofus Bobby Newport (guest star Paul Rudd) look good by suggesting he save the animal shelter. But he wont have his campaign manager to hide behind as he actually has to open his dumb month in the town debate, which introduces us to an array of other candidates from Pawnee, each more obscure than the last, including the return of porn star Brandi Maxxxx. We learn early on that the Tom/Anne has finally ended after Tom fails at romanticising her when he gives her a shout out on the radio and goes into too much detail. It was inevitable, and plants the seeds for what will happen over the next few episodes when Tom decides hes going to try and win her back, but he has competition in the form of Chris Traeger. Chris seems to be on a high this week as he and Anne join forces as the spin team for the debate, with Ben testing him on his skills to turn anything negative positive, such as if L
