Fans have been asking about the return of Twin Peaks ever since the second season ended in 1991. In the intervening years, there has been one film, several books, and more director's cuts, final cuts,and secret cuts than anyone can count. But the mystery of Twin Peaks still prevails. With both David Lynch and Mark Frost, the show's original creators, denying that the show would ever return, it looked as though Twin Peaks would remain a mystery forever. But then they changed their minds. The return of the cult classic is both one of the most hotly anticipated, and widely derided, television events of recent years. Various media references to the new series being a reboot or remake left fans confused or angry, and even though there has now been confirmation that the new show will run as a continuation, fans still know almost nothing else about it. While the majority of the original cast (with a few significant exceptions) are planned to return, what role they might play in the new series has yet to be revealed. So far, all that can be said for sure is that the new season will appear some time next year, and it will be set in a town called Twin Peaks. Everything else is just speculation.
